Welcome to the official website of the Comenius 2.1 project "MuseumScouts - Designing tomorrow's education", which has been funded by the European Commission.

The MuseumScouts project illustrates a European-wide desire to bring schools and cultural institutions (museums, galleries, historic sites and buildings, science centres) together so that they may collaborate to offer valuable and complementary learning experiences.

It is grounded in the technological advances in communication that characterise the 21st century.

As an EU Comenius 2.1 project, a main aim of MuseumScouts was to create materials to support teachers who were interested in working with this model of teaching and learning. During the project we gathered evidence of the experience and outcomes of working in more learner-directed ways; of collaborating with museums and using multimedia authoring software as a learning tool. We wanted to see how teachers’ and museum educators’ high levels of professional skill were most effectively deployed in this approach.

We have used what we found to create a handbook, a web based training (both will be available on this website in December 2009) and a face to face teacher's training which will be offered in the EU Commenius catalogue.
